Frank Lampard’s young Chelsea side has started to find a good rhythm after gaining some confidence and chemistry. With five wins in a row in all competitions, the Blues have risen to fourth in the Premier League table. The team started the season with very low expectations due to an inexperienced squad and ongoing transfer ban. However, it appears that they’ve found the right mix of talent and are growing together as a team. Their latest 1-0 win over Newcastle United wasn’t anything impressive, but it was yet another positive result to pile on to the others. Through two matchdays, they’ve picked up three points and trail Ajax for the group lead by three.
As for Ajax, things are going well despite losing the team’s two most impressive talents in the summer. Despite the loss of Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt, they are at the top of the Eredivisie through 10 matches played. In fact, Ajax has yet to lose a match this season in any competition. They have won both of their Champions League group matches to take a lead. However, it won’t be easy against a resurgent Chelsea side. If they can pull off the win, it would go a long way to qualify for the next round.
